Once in a great while, there emerges a saint that is the definition of the aroma of Christ. Such a person is Pastor Alan Pirrello. Pastor Alan is the local shepherd of Budd Lake Chapel, on 54 Sandshore Road in Budd Lake, NJ. Since his inception approximately 13 years ago, Pastor Alan has not only blessed the saints of his church but has also orchestrated activities to bless the surrounding areas.
Every year Budd Lake Chapel hosts a Vacation Bible School in July for all the neighboring children and young adults from Pre-K through the 12th grade. They go to classes, worship, and engage in edifying, social activities which are enjoyable and fun. And on the last day the participants, guided by the church staff and volunteers, give a big production which is presented to all the parents. It is a wonderful event and one which the children and young adults look forward to as do their appreciative parents.
Pastor Alan also has instructed the church to give back. It periodically holds events to raise money and food items to give to the Food Pantry of Budd Lake. It regularly contributes to various organizations that serve disadvantaged people such as The Salvation Army and Market Street Mission. And as a good church should in taking care of its saints, there are times where the church gives both physical assistance and financial assistance when it was sorely needed.
Pastor Alan is a very compassionate man who is driven by the counsel of the Holy Spirit. His actions confirm that he has really embraced his calling. When someone has a passion for something and none of their tasks seem like work, and those activities line up with the word of God, that is usually a sign that they have recognized and responded to their calling. I always will remember when I heard Pastor Alan preach at Word of Life Christian Ministries when he was an evangelist with the Gideons. I was so moved and impressed by him that after the service I said to him, “Man, you should have your own church.” This turned out to be a prophecy because a few years later he became Pastor at Budd Lake Chapel. The funny thing is that God knew this would happen, even before the foundation of the Earth.
Pastor Alan is a possibility-thinker who preaches the whole gospel. And he has put in the work for many years to be where he is. And I love his preaching because he comes right from the word, with no sugar-coating. He knows that when we know the truth, it will set us free. He has many strengths which he uses to effectively communicate with the saints. Here are a few of these strengths:
- Rather than guess, he checks with the saints before he does something that will affect them. Case in point, he asked the congregation if they liked him giving sermons in a series format.
- He does his homework and comes thoroughly prepared every week.
- He takes his time.
- He does not overwhelm the saints with too much information at one time. He keeps his bullet points to no more than four.
- He has given then saints his notes which helps people that don’t take notes and helps everyone concentrate more on listening to the sermon with fewer distractions.
- He is very gracious
- He is a very good listener
- He has good follow-up skills
- He has superior oral, written, and interpersonal skills
- He has a good work ethic
- He has high inner work standards
- He is a prayer warrior
These are just some of Pastor Alan’s strengths.
Here is a commendation letter I wrote for Pastor Alan .
KENNETH E. OVERBY APPRECIATION AWARD FOR GOD’S ANOINTED
This award acknowledges Pastor Alan Pirrello for being a faithful vessel of the Lord and one who has the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord with awe as he preaches the Gospel. leader and God-sent local shepherd of Budd Lake Chapel. He has been a wonderful expression of God’s love as he preaches the whole Gospel and also unselfishly gives of himself to all of the saints in the church. He represents everything that is good and pure in the eyes of God. Always standing in humility and thankfulness, he continually strives to deliver the undiluted and undefiled word of God and always is guided by the Holy Spirit which operates in truth.
Pastor Alan has displayed that he will not hesitate to go that extra mile to achieve peace and harmony. He is not self–serving and realizes that God brings down the proud and exalts the humble. He backs up his words with action and reflects Godly characteristics-the Fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22 and 23. They are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. When one embraces such qualities, there is no one who can bring a valid charge against them. He does everything as if he was doing it unto the Lord. I consider him a role model because he represents a model saint with a servant’s heart. People who have any spiritual discernment recognize that he has a good heart and they are inspired, motivated, and encouraged by him. He always takes himself out of the equation so he can focus on others. He is a person of integrity and one who walks in the light and not in the darkness. Everything he does is out in the open for there is nothing to hide.
Pastor Alan the big picture. He has vision knowing that the Bible says people without vision people perish. He is an overcomer and world changer who is very comfortable leading people to Christ one person at a time. He knows that as faithful vessels of the Lord we are to lead others to God, but it is the Holy Spirit that convicts them and God the Father that saves them from perdition. He has responded to a calling that is bigger than himself. And by studying the word, he has disciplined his mind to see the Bible as man’s Operation Manual which teaches us how to live, love, and forgive. He impacts people in a positive way, and he has no hidden motive or agenda and has satisfaction in just knowing that he did something to edify others.
Pastor Alan combines these qualities with a deep desire to serve. He appears to be driven by very high inner work standards and has exhibited that he has a reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord with awe. So, because of the passion he has for serving his fellow man and for being used as an instrument of the Lord, it is my pleasure and my honor to present him with the Kenneth E. Overby 2020 Appreciation Award for God’s Anointed. He has blessed my life and others many times over. May he have a long life and may God have a beautiful crown waiting for him in heaven.
