A YEARLY STUDY OF SALVATION- ADOPTION

In the book, God’s Plan for Man by Finis Jennings Dake salvation is characterized by mainly addressing sixty areas. I will attempt to discuss each of these areas. These areas were listed on this blog post on October 13, 2021. Today, I would like to discuss #4 Adoption.

Adoption is a change of family (and in doing so, there is a change of masters.)

Some of the associated scriptures are as follows:

Romans 8:14-17  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but e have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself Beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be glorified together.

Galatians 4:5    To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons,

Ephesians 1:4-5    …he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy, without blame before him in love; having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.

John 1:12    But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.

1 John 3:8-10   He that committeth is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested in him; and he can not sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil; whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

CONCLUSION

Adoption is a change of family. In His love for us and by His Amazing grace, God the Father conceived of and implemented the Plan of Salvation for man by which we could be in His family as shown in John 3:16. By acknowledging His supreme sacrifice of His only begotten and unique Son Jesus Christ, believing in him, and making him Lord of our lives, we could be part of God’s family and have everlasting life. We would be leaving one master the devil and getting a new and better master in Jesus Christ and become sons of God and co-heirs with Christ.
