In the book, God’s Plan for Man by Finis Jennings Dake salvation is characterized by mainly addressing sixty areas. I will attempt to discuss each of these areas. These areas were listed on this blog post on October 13, 2021. Today, I would like to discuss #38 Temperance.
Temperance is a change to moderation, a new sobriety before God.
The following are some scripture verses associated with Temperance:
Galatians 5:22, 23 But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; against such there is no law.
Acts 24: 25 And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season(time), I will call for thee.
1 Cor. 9: 25-27 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we are incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway (disqualified).
Titus 1:6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
Titus 2:2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
CONCLUSION
Temperance is a change to moderation, a new sobriety before God.
