YOU ARE AN OVERCOMER

sky nature

You are special and God has empowered you to do great things. He has plans for you as it is written Jeremiah 29:11 -to prosper you, never to harm, and for you to have hope and a future. But He also wants you to have confidence that you are an overcomer. Here is what He says in His word.

In Philippians 4:13 (Ampl) it is written:

I have the strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me: I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].

In II Chronicles 20:15b (Amplified)   The Lord says Be not afraid or dismayed at this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

In 1 John 4:4 (Amplified) it is written:

Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world.

In Revelation 12:11 it is written

And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony.

You see there is power in God’s word, power in the blood of Jesus, and power in our testimony. In 2 Timothy 3:16 and 17 (KJV) we can see the power of God’s word. It is written: all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. This means that the word of God is God-breathed and is good for instruction, discipline, and correction so that the man (or woman) of God will be thoroughly able and completely equipped to accomplish God’s will according to His purpose.

There is power in the blood of Jesus. It was his blood (the blood of a sinless lamb) that was required to wipe our sinful slate clean and enable us to be saved (which included our atonement, justification, and many other things) so we could once again stand before God with our heads up.

Previously, in a sinful state, God could not associate Himself with us in any kind of intimate relationship, because God can not co-exist with sin. So when you sin, you separate yourself from God. This is why what Jesus did for us is so significant. While all our sins were heaped upon him while he was on the cross, he was separated from the Father for the first time in eternity. It must have been more excruciating than words can even express. But he did it for us. He was God the Father’s supreme sacrifice for us. This is why Jesus Christ is at the heart of God’s grace (His unmerited favor) and why the Father said in His word that there is no name higher than Jesus.

Lastly, we can be overcomers by the word of our testimony. When we acknowledge and confess all that God has done for us, it not only empowers us, but it helps lead others to God by hearing God’s word as we bring to remembrance the teachings of Christ. Then the Holy Spirit convicts them, and God the Father saves them. When we confess openly with our mouths that Jesus is Lord, that God the Father raised Him from the dead, and we truly submit to him.

We not only become new creatures in Christ, old things have passed away, and all things become new, but also he comes to reside in us. And that’s where we get our power. It is not from money, assets, or weapons. It is from Christ. In 1 John 4:4 it is written; …greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. In Phil. 4:13 it is written that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. The reason is that with Christ in you, you have the co-creator of everything in you. You have the Word of God, the second person of the Godhead in you. He is the one who has been with the Father since the beginning and the one who spoke everything into existence. It doesn’t get any better than that.

In the Bible, the Father spoke to one of his saints and said, “My grace is sufficient for your needs.” He could say that because Jesus Christ is at the heart of His grace, and in Jesus, we have everything because he can meet all our needs if we truly believe and do not doubt.

Conclusion

God has enabled us to be overcomers by His word, by the blood of His sinless lamb Jesus Christ and by the word of our testimony. But there must be action on our part. We have to believe, have faith, unwavering trust, and do not doubt for God to act on our behalf.
