THANK YOU

give thanks

We should always stand before God in a state of humility and thankfulness. Giving God thanks is part of the will of God as expressed in 1 Thessalonians 5:18. And we should show Him how much we trust Him by looking to Him with great expectation with a child-like faith for what He is going to do in our lives. The following is a prayer of thanks.

God, I want to thank you for all that you are the great I AM, Jehovah Jireh, our provider, Jehovah Shalom, our peace, Jehovah Nissi, our banner, El Roi, the God who sees all, El Shaddai, Almighty God, and the many other names you have.

Thank you for being the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Thank you for conceiving of and implementing your plan of salvation.

Thank you for your grace and your mercy which enabled me to escape perdition and live with you in your eternal kingdom forever.

Thank you for loving me first and for loving me as you have loved your only begotten son.

Thank you for what you have already done.

I am not going to wait until I see results or receive awards. I am thanking you right now. I am not going to wait until I feel better. I am going to thank you right now.

I am not going to wait until people say I am sorry or until they stop talking about me. I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until the pain in my body disappears. I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until my financial situation improves, I’m going to thank you right now.

I am not going to wait until the children go to sleep and the house is quiet. I am going to thank you right now.

I am not going to wait until I understand every experience in my life that has caused me pain or grief, I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until the journey gets easier or the challenges are removed. I am thanking you right now.

I am thanking you because I am alive. I am thanking you because I made it through the day’s difficulties. I am thanking you because I have walked around the obstacles. I am thanking you because I have the ability and the opportunity to do more and do better.

I am thanking you because FATHER, YOU haven’t given up on me.

The Lord helped me through my grieving for my wife Delores who passed away in July of 2020. One of the ways that will bring you peace is by taking your eyes off your own problems and help someone else. Well, on my way to the Surrogates’ office to take care of some estate business two officers from the Sheriff’s office were very kind and gracious to me. So, to show my appreciation I wrote them both commendation letters so they could show their department chief.

Well, to my surprise a public relations associate in that office said she’d like to write an article about my kind gesture. I was both flattered and humbled. I said to myself, “Do you see what happens when you are nice to people?” You can learn about how my personal commendation letter and receipt of kind service impacted me and the sheriff’s department using the hyperlinked articles below.

God, You are so good, and You are good all the time.

Conclusion

We should be continually thanking God for His grace (unmerited favor) and mercy. He is faithful and has been so good to us. In Him, we live, breathe, and have our being. He is our All in All.

  1. I definitely give thanks when I first wake up because I know tomorrow is not promised to any of us. I miss Mom and hearing her voice but I know her spirit is always around and that gives me comfort. I thank God that stayed connected in recent years and was sure to tell her ” I love you” at the end of every conversation. Thank the good Lord for that. No regrets.
